Where does the time go.......

It's hard to believe that the season is half over already. The All-Star game is history, and we had a great presence there: four players (Evan Barlow, John Swanson, Brendan Milnamow, and Richard Bachman), as well as Coach Laxdal and broadcaster Doug Plagens. Congratulations to all of you - especially to Evan Barlow, MVP of the All-Star game.

Last night, Casey and I had the pleasure of being Steelhead for a Night. If you have never tried this, put it on top of you list of things to do. It is a truly amazing experience.

You start out watching the team warm up from the Zamboni tunnel - and it is way cool. You get your reflexes tested - I think the team checks to see if you flinch when that solid black object hits the glass right in front of your face at 90+ mph - and it you do, you are the new target. It's crazy-cool.

Then you get to partake in an puck drop before you take your seat for the game. And what seats they are - they are not the most luxurious seats in the arena, but they are definitely the greatest. You are seated in folding chairs at the end of the player bench, right next to the relief goalie. You get an entirely new perspective of the game from here. It is so fast, the action never stops. The door to the bench is constantly opening and closing and the players move non-stop.

The chatter is something else that never stops. The players are cheerleaders, coaches, and friends offering constant encouragement and advice to their teammates as well as opinions to the on-ice officials. Not for those with delicate 'ears', but an exciting, one-of-a-kind experience. And highly recommended!!!

During one of the intermissions, you get an interview with Doug Plagens, voice of the Idaho Steelheads. That offers another unique view of the game experience.

All in all, it is an experience not to be missed. Check it out by stopping at the Booster Club table and asking about Steelhead for a Night. You won't regret it.

Hi

Hi, I am pretty new to this, I am a full time student that loves hockey but only my Steelheads so any advice on how to become active with the booster club is very welcome. For your mosquito bites you might try mens deoderent it works great for wasp and bee stings too. My parents are mountain people and love home remidies lol. I am very excited about the hockey season starting there is nothing more exciting than going to a game and feeling all that energy. My daughter is a cheerleader so when we go together it is a ton of fun, she says im the funnest mom on the block haha. I just thought I would introduce myself a little and hope that I will get a chance to help out where ever I can:)

Toni,

It's great to hear from other Steelheads fans. We would love to see you join the Idaho Steelheads Booster Club. We will have our first meeting of the new year on September 8, 2009 to get plans made for the Meet & Greet that is held as close to the beginning of the season as possible (October sometime). We meed the second Tuesday of the month, September through the end of the season, at Perkins on Broadway and Front. The meetings start at 7:00. You can join at the meetings, at any home game, or you can contact Leah Hannum, who is in charge of membership at her e-mail address listed under the "About' section of our web site for more information and a membership form.

It is a really great group of people and we have a lot of fun supporting the team. It's hard work, but working with such neat people makes it a pleasure.

My daughter and I attend games together, and we are really loud and probably considered obnoxious by some of our neighbors, but we ring our cowbells and really get into the games, so I understand where you are coming from and applaud you for your enthusiasm and support.

I look forward to meeting you. If I can be of any help to you, contact me at caschnitz@idahosteelheadboosters.org.
